The 2010 mens Hockey team roster has been announced !!!!
Martin Brodeur, Marc-Andre Fleury and Roberto Luongo have been named as the goaltenders for the 2010 squad.
On defense, Scott Niedermayer will be captaining the team. Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Shea Weber are all from British Columbia. Rounding out the seven are Dan Boyle, Drew Doughty, and Chris Pronger.
Veteran defenceman and B.C. native Scott Niedermayer will serve as captain of the Canadian men’s hockey team at the 2010 Vancouver Games, it was announced on Wednesday.
Team Canada executive director Steve Yzerman helped unveil the names of the highly anticipated 23-man roster from Saskatoon, site of the ongoing IIHF world junior hockey championships.
Yzerman said “great debate” among the team’s braintrust occurred for all players ultimately selected.
Niedermayer is already a member of the so-called Triple Gold Club, a select group of players who’ve won a Stanley Cup, world championship and Olympic gold medal. The Cranbrook, B.C., native won Olympic gold with Canada in 2002 but was forced to miss the 2006 Torino Games due to an injury, an absence that hurt the team.

The players are:

I was wondering the other day after doing some reading, if the sun has an orbit. Turns out that sun does have an orbit. So what exactly is it in orbit around. The sun orbits the center of the Milky way Galaxy. This is known as the period of the sun’s orbit around the center of the Milky way Galaxy. What is astounding is the length of time that this takes. “The Sun’s completes an almost circular orbit of the center (of the galaxy) about every 250 million years.” This is what is known as a Cosmic year. Theres some debate about how long this Cosmic year is but it runs between 223-250 million years. So the last time the sun was in the same position within the milky way was when dinosaurs ruled the planet.
Stangely enough there isnt much in the way of photos I could find regarding the sun’s orbit. So to best get an understanding of how the sun orbits the the center of the Milky way Galaxy I found a photo of the Location of the Solar System in the milky way Galaxy.
Location of the Solar System in the milky way Galaxy

This is a Polar view of the Milky Way Galaxy showing the location of the Solar System.
The sun is one of about 100 billion stars in the Milky Way, one of billions of ordinary galaxies in the universe. The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy, with curving arms of stars pinwheeling out from a center. The solar system is about halfway out on one of these arms and is about 26,000 light years from the center. A light year is about 6 trillion miles.
So that sort of puts us on our own spaceship called earth and we’re rushing around in circles around the center of the Milky way galaxy

During the summer we had the opportunity to spend sometime in Mont-saint marie at a friends cottage. But I never took the time to post any images for friends and family to see. Heres a picture of Aidan on the boat house, right before he went into in the inflatable dingy that gets towed behind the Sea doo. He had a blast being that dingy thingy but said that the middle seat was kinda scary.
Thank god there's a Timmies (Tim Hortons is a coffee shop - for my American friends) not too far from where we live, it makes the whole notion of getting up at an un-godly hour in the morning on the weekend, just that much more bearable. Ok rant aside, it's really quite entertaining to be honest. Comon seriously how can you not find a gaggle of 5,6 and 7 yrs olds suited up in the latest high tech body armour doing battle on the ice chasing a puck around for an hour each morning on the weekends. What usually takes place ...
My god what have we done !!! In our infinite wisdom and ignorance. We have started Aidan down the dark and winding path into the sub culture of the Boarders. Perhaps we should call him Aidan Boarder. Aidan successfully completed Grade 1, apparently there was a 3 hr exam. And a 500 hundred word essay. Man the demands on Grade 1ers have gotten tougher. SO he's going to Grade 2 next year. In his words "grade is harder because you have to to take away, adding to is EASY taking away is hard-right shane" I'm going to guess this is some form of high ...
