If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

In an attempt to make my blog more visually interesting i’ve decided to embedd youtube videos that I find . Don’t worry they won’t be the stupid Youtube videos of cat pictures or anything of the sort, Oh no I’ll only be embedding the highest quality of Youtube videos, stuff like women mud wrestling. Now who doesnt like women mudwrestling.

Embedd_Youtube_Video_Cartoo.jpgOk seriously now there seems to be quite the problem with embedding youtube videos in wordpress. And to be honest I haven’t had all these problems. Well not exactly anyways. I originally was wanting to embedd flash videos into my wordpress blog. The reason being is that I have LOADS of family videos (mostly our little monster running amok) that I would like to feature here. Not only for your amusement but because we have family in far flung parts of the planet that we would like to show these videos to.

More on that later because I really haven’t figured out how to embedd the youtube flash player video player plug-in into wordpress. Currently I am using Camtasia to edit our family and other videos I have. And would really like to embedd them in flash format on my blog Any ideas out there from you would be helpful !!!. So drop me a comment Our family would be grateful for this….

Ok that being said and my plea for help with this being done.

How to or do you embedd Youtbe video clips and videos into wordpress.

So lets do this step by step.

1.) First you need a very cool video, I’ll embedd one of my favorites I dont know how many times I have watched this one so I think it’s time I just go ahead and embedd this video so you can enjoy it as much as I do. It’s called the Machine is Us/ing Us here’s the Youtube video link to it.

2.) You need the Youtube video embedd code for it :  <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NLlGopyXT_g&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NLlGopyXT_g&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

yikes will you look at all this mumbo Jumbo. So what on earth do you do with this once you have it?.

Thats the button you push to get your post editor window to display the code of your post. What your’s doesnt look like this, that’s because I’m using xinha for wordpress

I just like the tools available and think its generally a great plug-in for formatting your posts.

3.) So assuming you don’t have that plug-in. I did a search for how to embedd youtube video clips and wouldn’t you know it. One of my favourite bloggers Caroline Middlebrook has a great post detailing embedding youtube clips into Wordpress with out the hassle

Wow she has a new Theme design, Looks good Caroline!!!

4.) once you’re in your code view. Find a place where you want to embedd the Youtube video.

Here is what it looks like:

Just add your embedd code after the closing tag </p> and bling bling you’re a Youtube Video publisher in no time flat.

Ok so what’s the Frikken problem and why can’t you embedd your Youtube video.

Again I havent had this problem so I don’t clearly understand why it is a problem. I have another blog that doesn’t use this xinha for wordpress plug-in and I havent had the problem of embedding videos.

But according to Caroline Middlebrook the problem lies with the post editor default for wordpress if you’re hosting it on your own domain. Again Like I said I dont have this problem. Here is what I did.

I simply opened up my editor selected code view and pasted the Youtube video embedd code into the wordpress editor and then clicked publish.

And there you have it, the video is now live and on the blog.

Still this doesnt help you any because that doesnt for some reason work for you. Sux to be you doesnt it :-P Just joking….

Heres a few links to help you out with embedding wordpress videos.

If my explanation didn’t help you any.

  • Jackhumphrey of the now imfamous friday traffic report and blog I follow quite frequently only because I find him a useful resource for all things blogging and blog marketing related. Jack has a great video about embedding youtube videos and was one of the first place I could think of to send you to. Originally WAY BACK he had a youtube video he had done to show this now he’s featuring the same video on Revver.
  • Another favourite spot of mine for figuring out how to do things with wordpress is tubetorial. Theres a page on that blog that shows you wordpress video blogging the easy way
  • Perhaps the most complete explanation of how to embedd youtube and other media into wordpress comes from Lorelle on wordpress. This killer post covers not only video but podacasting, music and multimedia plugins. A definate must read!!

On Carolinemiddlebrooks  blog she mentions a plug-in, but when you go there the page doesn’t exist any longer, I guess the dude has wrapped up his site and its blown away some where. Ive commented to let her know. I’ll update here if she has a work around for that. Check the comments though there’s a few goodies that might be of use if none of my solutions work for you

Still though my problems with how do I embedd a video I made with camtasia into wordpress. I got the flash plug-in from that link there but I cant for the life of me get it to work.

So any help from you out there would be very grateful
