From all appearances and my own personal opinion the the Ottawa Senators seems to be doing a bit of a scramble to figure out how to fix the broken machine they have and recoup their 3 game losing streak.
Currently the Ottawa senators are sitting in the number one slot for their conference.
With a 3-4-1 mini-slump
Anyone who has been watching the last 5 games know that the Sens are just horrible in the neutral zone, they get forced onto the boards and lose it from there. And this has been a strategy that has been to its fullest by their opponents. Head coach John Paddock pointed toward better neutral zone play as one particular key to reversing the team’s fortunes.
How many breath taking scoring chances have we seen go to waste? too many.
“You’ve got to bury your chances when you get them and you’ve got to get the save when you need it … it’s just a combination of everything. It’s a tight, tight league and everybody’s good.” - Jason Spezza
Now for all the injuries. Alfredsson is a day to day maybe with his groin injury, its still speculation as to whether or not he’ll be playing against NY tomorrow night. Eaves is out for how long? At least a month.
So what has been the result of the inuries, line changes and juggling with players and a lack of leadership on the ice and in the bench. Its no surprise really when you take a well oiled machine like the sens, lose the captain and start juggling the lines that the machine starts to run a little rough.
Now for the Eaves thing, who is going to be filling his spot now that he’s out of commission? Nick Foligno. Yes they’re pulling him up from Binghamton after they demoted him 2 weeks ago after playing 14 games. Desperation move? who knows we’ll see if this was a good move after the game won’t we.
So how many players do we have taking it on a game to game basis - one day at a time. And is this a healthy mindset for a team in a losing slump.
Quoting: Nick Foligno “I’m going to just take it one day at a time and not look too far ahead. Just work hard when I’m out there and show them what I can do. It’s a second chance and I’ve got to make the best of it.”
an anyone make any sense at all out of this statement? head coach John Paddock said the Sens’ top pick in the 2006 entry draft hasn’t been “outstanding” with the B-Sens, he feels the time is right for Foligno to make another impression in Ottawa.? Huh whats the deal with that hes not making a good impression in Binghamton but wants to play him?
Quoting: Ray emery (starting against NY on wednesday) “I definitely want to bounce back with a good game,” said Emery, who’s allowed at least four goals in each of his previous two starts. “But I just worry about what’s at hand. I don’t worry about whether I won the last game or lost the last game, or whatever happened.”
I know this news is confusing and I wanted to portray that way because thats what I think is happening in the Sens camp Confusion.
Lets hope the sens get their acts togethor and kick some ass on wednesday.
